Working Notes

How A Booking Is Put Together Before The Van Door Opens

Amazing Tonigh is a family business because the work still has family habits in it: labelled leads, proper checks, not promising a field disco with a generator and not pretending a late licence exists when the venue says it does not.

Booking Sequence

From Enquiry To Clear-Down

  1. 01
Enquiry. Send the date, venue, postcode, guest numbers, room access and finish time to hello@amazingtonigh.com.
  2. 02
Date check. Mark checks availability, travel and whether the venue timing is workable.
  3. 03
Price. The quote includes playing time, travel, package, access and any uplighters.
  4. 04
Reservation. A £100 non-refundable date reservation payment holds the date.
  5. 05
Planning email. Timings, first dance, requests, do-not-play list and venue contacts are gathered.
  6. 06
Final balance. Paid by bank transfer 14 days before the event.
  7. 07
Arrival and clear-down. Set-up takes 75 minutes for Classic disco, 2 hours for wedding with uplighters and 45 minutes to clear down.

Music Policy

Requests Are A Map, Not A Cage

Music requests are gathered by email up to 7 days before the event. A short do-not-play list is welcomed because it is much easier to avoid a family sore point before somebody asks for it at the booth.

First dance edits are included in the wedding evening package. For schools and family events, clean versions are used where needed. If a guest request fights the room, Mark will usually park it, find a better route into it or decline it politely if it is on the do-not-play list.

The point is not to play every track in the order received. The point is to understand the people in the room: aunties who want soul, friends who want indie, cousins asking for current pop and the couple who only said “nothing too cheesy” but still need a last half hour.

Venues And Access

Wakefield-Area Practical Notes

  • Loading bays are useful only when the venue will let the van stop there during set-up and clear-down.
  • Stairs, tight fire doors and long corridors change the quote because they change the time and the safety plan.
  • Parking needs to be known before arrival, especially in town-centre rooms around Wakefield, Leeds and Huddersfield.
  • Sound limiters are workable when the threshold is known before the night starts.
  • Early access is the easiest way to make a wedding room feel calm when guests arrive.
